The Resilient Governance website is intended to provide an online focal point for exploring innovative ways that governments, the private sector, and civil society can and do address the complex and challenging economic, social and environmental issues we face in the 21st century. It is animated by the understanding that each of government, business and communities/individuals/NGOs have unique capabilities and energies to be harnessed to regulate unacceptable conduct and encourage good behaviour - and each also has distinctive limitations.
It is in the combinations of state and non-state actors, instruments, institutions and processes - sometimes operating collaboratively, at other times in more of a check-and-balance/rivalrous/competitive manner - that optimal, resilient and dynamic approaches to governing can be found. I have called this "sustainable governance".
